Taking off from our base in Fiumefreddo, we will proceed ascending the slopes of Mount Etna in the eastern direction toward the well known town of Zafferana Etna, famous for its honey production and which risked being obliterated by the lava of an eruption of the Etna volcano in 1992. We continue toward the Mount Etna towns that lay on the Southeastern slope. Passing Acireale we arrive at Aci Castello from where you can enjoy the view of the city of Catania and its harbour. Proceeding toward the sea, one can admires the Norman-Swabian castle of Aci Castello overlooking the cliff. Reaching the coast you will be able to admire the protected marine area of the Cyclops Islands and the Faraglioni rocks, mentioned in the Odyssey when Polyphemus hurled them from the volcano to stop the escape of Ulysses. Continuing along the coast you will admire Aci Trezza and its bay and Punta Capo Mulini with its famous lighthouse. The trip goes on, always allowing you to admire the coast, rocky formed by lava flows to arrive and pass Acireale, Santa Tecla, Stazzo and Pozzillo. Among the sea, citrus groves and sheer coastline, you will reach Marina di Riposto with its tourist port, famous since Roman times. From here the rocks give way to the immense beaches that reach as far as Giardini Naxos, first Greek colony in Sicily, and its famous and large bay that serves as a prelude to the spectacular view of Taormina, the Pearl of the Mediterranean, vacation spot of the world jet set. It presents itself nestled on Mount Tauro with its elegant palaces, breathtaking hotels and historical relics such as the magnificent and unique ancient Roman-Greek theatre. One has not yet recovered from the thrill of the view from the top of this ancient find that you descend to sea level to admire the bays, the coves between Cape S. Andea and Cape Taormina. The view of the world-famous Isola Bella is truly unique and from the sea you can enjoy an even more unique perspective of Taormina. A quick glance at Castelmola and, before returning to the helipad, we cross the large opening of the Alcantara River valley, the castle of Calatabiano and the village of Fiumefreddo.
